The pen sketches didn’t have pencil undersketches. I just did it to improve my accuracy and stop erasing so much. I tend to take notes form sites too, so this was quick basic foot studies.
So what am I learning? I learned from my mistakes, where lines went wrong, and at times to have better line economy. I have various sketchbooks of different themese, but this one is probably the most…esoteric because I didn’t let myself be so uptight when drawing. Let it flow, make mistakes. There’s quite a few interesting bits, like seeing how I could create a believable figure by just inking it without construction lines. It was even more difficult by pen since mistakes couldn’t be erased. I’m still doing these on the bus, and have more pages. I said 37 but it’s more than that. Some of my favorites were stylizing the forms into things like cubes or blocks so I can figure out more 3d form and planes.
